I know I should be doing an actual post at some point. I’ll do one. I promise.

In the meantime, here’s a musical meme I yanked from my friend Jenn Dolari.

Step 1: Put your iTunes or equivalent on random.

Step 2: Post the first or so lines from the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing.

Step 3: Get your friends to contemplate your bizarre tastes in music by guessing the songs.

Step 4: Bold out the songs when someone guesses correctly.

1) Hey man, please don’t make a sound. Take a look around, can’t you see what’s right in front of you? Have a little taste, no more time to waste. You don’t wanna get left behind cause it’s all coming down right now.

2) In the time when darkness ruled, no one saw the light. In the cold black emptiness, victims of the night.

3) On his way to dinner, when it took him by surprise, and with one pull of the trigger, he would vanish overnight. Dancing by the roadside, holding on for dear life; then a gun from out of nowhere made a widow of his wife.

4) The wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees. The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon the cloudy seas. The road was a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor.

5) You can have my autograph. I think I’ll sign it love to you. But should I sign it just for you?

6) Only came outside to watch the nightfall with the rain. I heard you making patterns rhyme. Like some new romantic looking for the TV sound, you’ll see I’m right some other time.

7) Show me a river that’s so deep, show me a mountain so high. I’ll show you love that’ll last forever. Flyin’ high, so high.

You get to feel so guilty, got so much for so little, then you find that feeling just won’t go away. You’re holding on to every little thing so tightly ’til there’s nothing left for you anyway.

9) Uhh! Awww, sookie sookie now! Hey! Oww, uhh! Come on, baby! Hey there, Sugar Darlin’, let me tell you something girl, I’ve been trying to say, now.

10) Love – Devotion – Feeling – Emotion. Don’t be afraid to be weak. Don’t be too proud to be strong.

11) Wake up in the morning, and I raise my weary head. I got an old coat for a pillow and the earth was last night’s bed.

12) Highway run into the midnight sun… wheels go round and around. You’re on my mind.

13) I tried to kill the pain but only brought more… so much more. I lay dying and I’m pouring crimson regret and betrayal.

14) Time it was, and what a time it was. It was a time of innocence, a time of confidences. Simon & Garfunkel – “Bookends”

15) Every night she walks right in my dreams since I met her from the start. I’m so proud I am the only one who is special in her heart.

16) Hooray for a child who makes it through. If there’s any way because the answer lies in you…

17) As I wake up in a room somewhere, dawn light not yet showing, there’s just a thin horizon between me and her; the edge of a half-dream glowing.

18) Words like violence break the silence… come crashing into my little world.

19) Tell me, Doctor, where are we going this time? Is this the 50′s or 1999?

20) I know you broke up with him, and your heart’s still on the shelf. It’s been over two years for me and I’m still not quite myself.

I’m not a Babylon 5 fan as I haven’t watched many episodes of the series, but I figured that I would join the meme with one of my favorite “military” quotes…

For B5 fans – when you see this, post a B5 quote in your own journal.

(The setting: Babylon 5 has just broken off from the Earth Alliance and fought off an attack from Earth ships. Almost defenseless, Babylon 5 is faced with fresh reinforcements. At that point, four Minbari ships jump in to protect the station.)
Delenn: This is Ambassador Delenn of the Minbari. Babylon 5 is under our protection. Withdraw or be destroyed.
Captain Drake: Negative. We have authority here. Do not force us to engage your ship.
Delenn: Why not? Only one human captain has survived battle with a Minbari fleet. He is behind me. You are in front of me. If you value your lives, be somewhere else.
(The Earth ships turn tail and jump out.)

(An actual post may come tonight. Stay tuned…)

25. Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983) $309,125,40

The number of ones I’ve seen in theaters surprises me, when I consider the fact that I rarely go to theaters anymore. For example, last year the only movie I can recall seeing at the theater was Transformers, and this year the only movie I’m probably going to see at the theater is The Dark Knight. (I’m waiting for Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk to hit DVD.) Most of the other movies are on a “get around to it” basis, except for the Spider-Man movies and The Passion of the Christ. I lost interest in Spider-Man back in the 90s when it became mostly, “Let’s see how we can fuck up Peter Parker’s life next.” As for the latter, well… I’d just as soon not watch someone get the shit kicked out of him for two hours, thank you very much.

The reliable realist is down-to-earth and responsible-minded. He is precise, reserved and demanding. His most prominent quality is reliability and he will always make every effort to keep any promise given. The reliable realist is more a quiet and serious type, he does not talk a lot but is a good listener. He sometimes seems reserved and distant to outsiders although he often has a great deal of wit and esprit. His strong points are thoroughness, a marked sense of justice, doggedness bordering on pigheadedness and a pragmatic, vigorous and purposeful manner. The reliable realist does not dither about if something has to be done. He does what is necessary without wasting words.

This personality type not only expects a lot of himself but also of others. Once he has set his mind on something, it is difficult to persuade him otherwise. He does not like to leave anything to chance. Planning means safety to the reliable realist, as well as order and discipline. He has no problem respecting authorities and hierarchies but does not like to delegate tasks. He is certain that others would not deal with them as conscientiously as he does. In management positions, he is very task-oriented – he makes sure that things are well done; however, he does not have a great deal of interest in personal contacts at work.

In relationships too, the reliable realist is reliability itself. As a partner, he is faithful and consistent, well-balanced and sensible. Security and stability are very important to him. He has little time for extravagances and flightiness. Whoever has him as friend or partner can rely on him for a lifetime. However, it takes quite a while for the reliable realist to enter into a relationship or friendship. He has little need for social contacts; he therefore takes great care when choosing partners and friends and limits himself to a small but exclusive circle which meets his high demands. He tends to show his closeness to people who are important to him by deeds – his partner should rather not expect romantic declarations of love.

I Am A: Lawful Neutral Human Wizard (4th Level)

Ability Scores:
Strength-13
Dexterity-14
Constitution-17
Intelligence-17
Wisdom-12
Charisma-14

Alignment:
Lawful Neutral A lawful neutral character acts as law, tradition, or a personal code directs him. Order and organization are paramount to him. He may believe in personal order and live by a code or standard, or he may believe in order for all and favor a strong, organized government. Lawful neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you are reliable and honorable without being a zealot. However, lawful neutral can be a dangerous alignment because it seeks to eliminate all freedom, choice, and diversity in society.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Class:
Wizards are arcane spellcasters who depend on intensive study to create their magic. To wizards, magic is not a talent but a difficult, rewarding art. When they are prepared for battle, wizards can use their spells to devastating effect. When caught by surprise, they are vulnerable. The wizard’s strength is her spells, everything else is secondary. She learns new spells as she experiments and grows in experience, and she can also learn them from other wizards. In addition, over time a wizard learns to manipulate her spells so they go farther, work better, or are improved in some other way. A wizard can call a familiar- a small, magical, animal companion that serves her. With a high Intelligence, wizards are capable of casting very high levels of spells.
